Cookie policy
Which cookies this website uses, what each one does, and how to change your mind. Last updated 27 October 2026.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website saves on your phone or computer when you visit. Some are needed to make the site work. Others help me understand how people use the site, so I can make it better.
I only use cookies that aren't essential if you say yes to them in the cookie banner, and you can change your mind at any time.
Essential cookies
These make the website work properly, so they can't be switched off. They don't track you.
| Cookie | What it does | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|
| Cookie banner choice | Remembers whether you said yes or no to cookies, so you aren't asked on every page | 1 year |
| Website security | Helps protect the site and the contact form from spam and attacks | Until you close your browser |
Analytics cookies (only if you say yes)
I use Google Analytics to see how many people visit the site, which pages they look at and how they found me. It doesn't tell me who you are.
| Cookie | What it does | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|
| _ga | Lets Google Analytics tell one visitor from another | 2 years |
| _ga_ followed by letters and numbers | Remembers where you are in your visit, so pages are counted properly | 2 years |
You can read how Google uses this information in Google's guide to how it uses data from websites.
Booking and payment cookies
When you use one of the booking diaries on this site, it's provided by Calendly, which may set its own cookies so the diary works and your booking goes through. When you pay for a class or a Novel Diagnostic, you pay on Stripe's secure checkout, which uses cookies to keep your payment safe and prevent fraud.
You can read more in Calendly's cookie notice and Stripe's cookie policy.
Changing your mind
You can change your cookie choice at any time using the cookie settings link at the bottom of every page. You can also delete or block cookies in your browser settings, although some parts of the site, like the booking diaries, may not work properly without them.
