How I collect, use and look after your personal information when you visit eleanorwasserberg.com or work with me. Last updated 27 October 2026.
Who I am
I am Eleanor Wasserberg, a novelist, novel writing mentor and creative writing tutor. I am the data controller for your personal information, and I am a sole trader based in Stroud, Gloucestershire, UK.

What information I collect
When you contact me or enquire about my services. Your name, email address and any details you include in your message, such as information about your writing project.
When you book a call or a session. Your name, email address, the time you choose and any answers you give when you book. Bookings are made through Calendly.
When you book a class or pay for a service. Your name, email address and the details of what you have booked. Payments are taken securely by Stripe. I never see or store your full card details.
When you join my mailing list. Your name and email address, if you sign up for a newsletter or updates.
When you become a client. Your contact details, payment and invoicing information, and the writing you share with me, such as manuscripts, extracts, synopses and related correspondence.
When you visit the website. If you say yes to analytics cookies, Google Analytics records how you use the site, such as which pages you visit and how you found it. This does not tell me who you are. You can find out more in my cookie policy.
How and why I use your information

Your writing and confidentiality
Manuscripts and other work you share with me are treated as confidential. I will use them only to provide the service you've asked for. I will not share them with anyone else, publish them, or use them to train AI tools. Your work remains your own.
Who I share information with
I never sell your personal information. I share it only with trusted providers who help me run my business, and only as far as necessary. These are:
- Calendly, which manages my booking diary
- Stripe, which takes payments for classes and services
- Google, for Google Meet video calls, my email and, if you agree to analytics cookies, Google Analytics
- Hostinger, which hosts this website and stores messages sent through the contact and booking forms
- Pink Elephant Media, who build and look after this website for me
- My accountant, and professional advisers where needed
- Authorities, where I'm legally required to disclose information
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, I rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or an adequacy arrangement.
How long I keep your information
- Enquiries that don't lead to work: up to 12 months
- Client records and correspondence: for 6 years after our work ends, in line with tax and accounting requirements, unless you ask me to delete your manuscript materials sooner
- Manuscripts and shared work: for 12 months after our work ends, then securely deleted unless you ask me to delete them earlier
- Mailing list: until you unsubscribe
Cookies
The website uses cookies. Essential cookies make the site work, and I only use analytics cookies if you say yes to them in the cookie banner. You can change your mind at any time. My cookie policy lists every cookie the site uses and what each one does.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- Access the personal information I hold about you
- Have inaccurate information corrected
- Have your information erased, in some circumstances
- Restrict or object to how I use your information
- Receive your information in a portable format
- Withdraw consent at any time, for example by using the unsubscribe link in any email

If you're unhappy with how I've handled your information, please tell me first so I can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Security
I take reasonable steps to protect your information, including secure passwords, encrypted devices and reputable service providers. The website uses a secure connection, so anything you send through it is encrypted. No online system is completely secure, but I will act promptly if there is ever a problem.
Changes to this policy
I may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
